Dr. Eric Turner Named Principal At Affton High School

Following an extensive search for talent and experience, the Affton School District Board of Education on Tues., April 14, approved the hiring of Dr. Eric Turner as Principal for Affton High School for the 2026-27 school year.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Eric Turner to the Affton family. Throughout the search process, Eric’s ability to connect with stakeholders and experience implementing proven and practical solutions stood out,” said Dr. Travis Bracht, superintendent. “Dr. Turner’s experience as a building-level administrator during a major construction project will benefit Affton High School in the years to come. I am confident that his focus on building strong relationships and clear expectations will provide the stability our students, staff, and families deserve.”

Turner’s experience in school administration includes his role as principal at Washington High School in Washington, Missouri, since 2023. In addition, he has served as an assistant principal for six years at Lindbergh High School in St. Louis.

“I am honored and excited to join Affton High School as its next principal. Affton is a district with a proud tradition of excellence, and I look forward to building on that strong foundation while helping lead the school into an exciting future,” said Dr. Turner. “My priority will be to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, and the community to ensure every student is supported, challenged, and prepared for success. In the coming months, I am eager to listen, learn, and build meaningful relationships that will help us continue moving forward together.”

In addition to his administrative experience, Turner taught math at both the middle school and high school levels for 11 years, with the last three years at Mehlville High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in math education from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri; a Master of Science in math and science education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale; a Master of Science in educational leadership from Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri; and a doctorate in educational leadership from Maryville University in St. Louis.

Turner is a native of the Metro East area and a graduate of Freeburg High School. He and his wife, Sarah, reside in Columbia, Illinois, and have a 12-year-old daughter, Ellen. Outside of school, he enjoys coaching and supporting his daughter’s basketball and volleyball teams, as well as golfing and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Turner will begin serving as principal at Affton High School on July 1.
