Affton School District Sets 2025 Tax Rate; Maintains Rollback

On Tues., Sept. 23, the Affton Board of Education unanimously approved the 2025 tax rate of $4.5418, maintaining a voluntary tax rollback of 35-cents first introduced in 2017. This 35-cent rollback reduces the tax burden for the community by approximately $2.44 million for 2025.

Assessed valuations for 2025 increased by 13.6%, or $83.4 million, from 2024. Because annual fluctuations in the tax rate are correlated to changes in assessed valuations, the tax rates for 2025 ($4.5418) decreased compared to the 2024 rates ($4.9326).

β€œAffton School District and the Board of Education remain committed to fiscal responsibility and transparency with our community,” said Dr. Travis Bracht, superintendent. β€œFor nearly a decade, we’ve honored our voluntary 35-cent rollback to keep the tax burden lower for Affton residents. Even with this continued relief, we’re able to invest in facilities, teachers and staff, and programs that keep our schools strong and responsive to the needs of our community.”

While the district is committed to maintaining quality learning opportunities for students and competitive staffing levels to assist with class sizes, we will also continue to pursue competitive pay and benefits in an effort to retain and attract exceptional and qualified employees.

Affton School District has continued to honor its commitment to the community by investing $3.5 million in capital improvements throughout the district in the current school year. The District is planning, designing, and executing the projects in the Facilities Master Plan, which includes the modernization of current buildings through updated libraries and learning spaces.
