Affton School District is pleased to announce that Chelsea Boyd has been selected as the new Director of Assessment, Federal Programs & Future Readiness for the 2026-27 school year, pending official approval by the Board of Education at their upcoming meeting.

In her new role, Boyd will develop and implement strategic and annual plans focusing on the coordination of K-12 career, technical education, and college readiness programs and funding. She will also support the District’s instructional goals, administrative needs, and communication functions, providing efficient and effective support across these programs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chelsea to our district leadership team. Her strategic mindset and proven track record of aligning systems to improve student outcomes make her the ideal person to lead our future readiness programs,” said Dr. Travis Bracht, superintendent. “I am confident her leadership will promote collaboration across the district in an effort to expand opportunities and ensure our students are fully prepared for college and career paths.”

Dr. Jason Buck, incoming assistant superintendent, is also excited to reunite with Boyd, having previously worked with her at Affton High School, when she was a track coach and he served as assistant principal.

“I have seen firsthand Chelsea’s incredible work ethic and dedication to students,” said Dr. Buck. “She has a unique ability to connect with young people and help them build a bridge to their future. I look forward to partnering with her again to enhance our K-12 career and technical education programs.”

“I am honored and excited to join Affton School. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about creating systems and opportunities that help students discover their strengths, overcome barriers, and prepare for life after graduation,” said Boyd. “Affton’s commitment to ensuring every student is known, supported, and challenged aligns closely with my own educational philosophy. I look forward to partnering with students, staff, families, and community members to expand opportunities, strengthen programs, and help every Affton student build a successful future.”

Boyd has served as an assistant principal at Seckman High School in the Fox C-6 School District for the past seven years. Prior to entering administration, she taught social studies for six years, including AP Government and Politics, U.S. History, and other related courses. She was named Teacher of the Year for Fox High School in 2019. During her time in education, Boyd has focused on creating innovative programs that support student achievement, mental health, career readiness, and postsecondary success. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia; a Master of Arts in teaching and a Master of Education in educational leadership from Missouri Baptist University; and a Specialist in educational leadership from Southwest Baptist University. She is currently completing her doctorate in educational leadership at Southwest Baptist University, with an expected graduation date of December 2026.

A native of St. Louis and graduate of Lindbergh High School, she and her husband, Josh, an educator in the Mehlville School District, reside in the Affton area with their daughter. Outside of school, Boyd enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and supporting student activities and community events.
